About Periplum

Periplum is a writing practice spanning technical, editorial and creative work. With significant experience working on projects in the charity and education sectors, articles and blogs, and literary editing, Periplum was created as a continuum to unite seemingly opposed forms of writing.

What Shapes Periplum?

Periplum is both shaped and defined by the meaning of its name: to operate through intuitive discovery rather than by using fixed assumptions.

Professional projects demand clarity, structure and precision; commissions and editorial pieces allow space for stories, reflection, movement and cultural observation.

Periplum is shaped by the diversity of writing it undertakes.

Behind Periplum

Behind Periplum is Jonny Mumby, a multidisciplinary writer and editor.

After graduating with a degree in International Relations, Jonny lived in Vietnam for three years working as a language teacher.

Always writing and photographing these experiences, he has since documented his travels across Japan, Thailand, Singapore and Ethiopia, as well as working on personal projects such as a poetry collection and a novel.

Services

Periplum Copy brings together commissioned writing, including bid writing, copywriting, editorial content, and longer-form creative assignments.

The work continues to evolve through collaborative projects with other bid writers, charities, education providers and organisations. Community and connection are core tenets of Periplum.
